21ST CENTURY HUMAN QUESTIONNAIRE

Winny
June 14, 2025

1. What's your name? How old are you? How would you describe yourself?
I'm Winny! I'm a woman in my mid-twenties, I'm a creative person & a college student. I've been around for a little chunk of change and I've loved what I've seen, so, despite everything, I've always decided to stick around. I'm head over heels in love with art, the world, and my girlfriend- and even when it's bleak out I've tried to appreciate that much, at least.

2. What was your upbringing like?
It was okay, I wish it was better sometimes but I've always appreciated that there are people who went through much worse than I did. I had a roof over my head, food, and it did get scary, but I never really roughed it like some people had to and I've always tried to appreciate and understand the circumstances that could make someone else so much unlike me.

3. What are your hobbies? How do you like to spend your free time?
Well, I'm developing a visual novel to... maybe publish, one day, I really couldn't say for certain. It's a lot of hard work! And it is work, but it's a hobby too, but I've tried to appreciate the work. I like my job too, it's a lot like diving through wikipedia articles, if I could say that much. Besides that, I dunno, I guess my hobby always has been making things. I can't ever really stop fidgeting, and my hands are better at play writing and drawing than they are twitching themselves apart!

4. What kind of music do you like?
Kinda anything! I know people love to say that. I do certainly have preferences and dislikes, I really like indie rock and I'm not crazy about most hyperpop. My parents would play basically anything, all loud as hell on the downstairs computer; dad rock, rap, pop, ambient, punk, classical, prog, and I liked just about all of it... I think it influenced my taste in other things, I'll really try just about anything if someone wants me to- I might even like it- but I really know when I just can't stand something. Oysters, hyperpop, not for me!

5. Favorite movies / TV shows?
RWBY, Gurren Lagann, Steven Universe, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Centaurworld, well, I'll say so in the next question but the unfortunate reality is that I enjoy so much more than I can recall off the top of my head.

6. Do you like any video games?
Deltarune, Limbus Company, Momodora, Signalis, Oxenfree, Dark Souls, The Outer Worlds, the Sims, unfortunately... probably a lot more than I can remember off the top of my head.

7. Favorite literature? This could be a novel, a book series, a comic, etc.
Scott Pilgrim, Homestuck, Cucuber Quest, Yotsuba, Goodbye Eri, Look Back, The Stranger, the Halo novels, some Star Trek novels, I've loved to read short stories in my college classes and I've loved to delve through my college archives.

8. How has art affected your life?
My parents really loved to put on movies, and dad used to play games with me too, and from the earliest age I grew up on space odysseies and fantastical epics- and I think it gave me a taste for all the wide range of power that art had to deliver stories to us. When I got into art on my own in my early teen years, I really got into stuff like Undertale. What a game! But more than that, what a community. I think we all love to disparage fandoms, they can get pretty awful, but I never got over the sense of community and friendship a fandom could give me. It always sparked something for me, a beautiful kind of enjoyment that nothing else really gave me. I think that's what I always wanted to create, more than my own story, is to create a community who can find anything at all in the stories I write in the way I found myself in the Lord of the Rings.

9. What are your hopes for the future of humanity?
I'd like to hope we all end up a little nicer. I didn't really act like a nice person for a long time, but I kept growing. I'd like to think we could all grow up and change for the better. I'd like to think we still have some sense in our heads.

10. Any hopes or aspirations for your own future?
Well... I'd like to get married. I'd like a masters in my field. I'd like to live somewhere and not have to move ever again. I'd like to make my visual novel. I'd like to get good at my job. I'd like to not have to do it alone. That's a little too personal, it feels like, but... I'd like to hope I found the one. I think the rest is all give-or-take, I just hated going at it alone.

11. If sentient extraterrestrial life were to exist, what would you want to tell them about humanity?
Well... it's hard not to say, y'know, we're doomed! Haha! Help us! Please! But... well, that sucks, doesn't it? I always hate that. I hate when I ask someone how to do something and they just go and do it for me. If I could tell them about us, I think I'd tell them... we're always on a knifes edge, even at our best, but... well, I think that's good, I suppose. It's never very comforting to think about the blade we walk on but I don't think we can really be interfered with. I think it's our mistake to make, our risk, and I think we'll have to grow uninterrupted. Maybe we all are. I'd ask them if they are too, where we could go when we can get it together.

12. Do you currently have / have you had any pets or livestock?
Not me, but my brother has birds. Very cute.

13. How do you hope people remember you?
Mm, kindly, I suppose. I think it's harder than we'd like to admit to leave a good impression with the people we don't talk to anymore but I'd like to think that people remember the good things about me like I try to remember the good things about them. I've known some real stinkers, but, if I can I try to remember the good things they did.

14. Do you have any advice for younger people?
Don't give up! Don't give into apathy! Don't give into fear! God. It's so scary outside. It's miserable, it's really, truly miserable, but it is still there. It's always going to be. Please don't give up on it. Don't let the world take it from you. Don't be afraid. Ask for that job, ask your friends about their hobbies, ask that special someone out, it's gonna suck. It's not gonna be pretty. But you gotta try. Just try.

15. Are you religious?
Yeah, yeah I'd say I'm religious. I was never baptized, I never really attended service, I never did... most of the Christian things, I suppose. Maybe it saved me from being soured on the whole prospect of God and stuff but... it's one of the only things I'm certain about. I was never very certain about most things in my life. What I had one day could be gone the next. I never really doubted God in that way, and I try to believe that good things will come in the same way I believe in God. Even when there's no reason to believe, I still say it will happen. It will get better.

16. What do you think the meaning of life is?
Well, it's corny, but I think it's only really what you make of it. To breed, I guess? We are all just machines in that way, we only really exist to like, propogate the species. But there's something about us that wants to be more than that and I think you'll doom yourself if you sit around waiting for it to make sense. Ahh... it sucks, it's really scary, but you have to take chances. When I got into college, I made myself talk to my teachers and my bosses and try to figure out where I wanted to go and what I wanted to be. It's not easy. But I think it helped, to have a little volition, a little pep in my step guiding me towards where I want to be in life.

17. Do you have any fears?
Well, no one really likes to be alone. No one likes to leave their work unfinished, no one likes to think about being hurt by the people we love or about hurting the people we love.

18. What makes you happy?
I think about my girlfriend. I think about my characters. I think about the food I've eaten, the people I've known, the places I've been, and that's all just about good enough for me.

19. What kind of food do you like to eat?
Sweet, salty, spicy, lots of textures, lots of ingredients, nice ingredients, something homemade, or even from a restaurant... well. I suppose just about anything, just about anything but... oysters.

20. Do you have a favorite animal?
Horses probably! They're kinda stinky. They're weird, too, but I guess what animal isn't. There's just something very cute about them, and I think more than the animal, the cultural image of what the horse is. Free, playful & spirited. That's the ideal.

21. Do you have a favorite color?
Purple!

22. What do you wish you had known earlier?
I wish I'd known not to give up.
