21ST CENTURY HUMAN QUESTIONNAIRE

Dallas
June 14, 2025

1. What's your name? How old are you? How would you describe yourself?
I'm Dallas. I'm 21 years old (born November 14, 2003).
I'm not much of anything right now. I live with my parents. I draw, I go to work, and I get high. One day, I want to be a cartoonist. I think I'll be okay as long as I get there.

2. What was your upbringing like?
I grew up with my mom, my dad, and my three siblings. All my siblings are my half-siblings; we all have different biological parents. I'm the youngest. My mom and my dad married before I was born.
It wasn't always great. Things are complicated. My parents, through haste or ignorance, definitely did things that fucked me up. That's not to say that I hate my parents. I don't. I can acknowledge that I was affected by some of the things they did without believing that they're terrible people. They never did anything to hurt me on purpose.
Growing up, I didn't feel like my siblings liked me that much either. That might have been half true. There's a pretty big age gap between me and the other kids, so there weren't as many opportunities for us to hang out. Everyone else had moved out by the time I was in middle school. I also got beat up less. I got smacked around a few times, but it wasn't on the same level as it was for the other kids, either because our parents realized it was kinda fucked up or because they just didn't have the same energy to hit their kids as they used to.
I'm grateful that things were never super bad financially. Our family struggled in the past, but our finances were decent for most of my life. My parents are decently middle-class. Not rich, but not poor either. I grew up in a house, which was something a lot of my friends didn't have.

3. What are your hobbies? How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to draw. Sometimes I forget that I do, but I do. Besides that, I like listening to music, playing video games, going to work, hanging out with friends, getting high... My life is pretty boring right now, but it's important to have hobbies.

4. What kind of music do you like?
Nu metal, industrial metal, thrash metal, gabber, noise, new wave, gothy shit, occasionally folky stuff like Simon & Garfunkel, EDM, dance pop, etc.. There's a lot of different stuff I like, but I'd say I mostly listen to stuff like Type O Negative, The Cure, Rammstein, Static-X, KMFDM...

5. Favorite movies / TV shows?
I never watched a lot of movies or TV, weirdly enough. Some of my favorite movies are The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the Star Wars series, and Fargo.
I'm a cartoon adult. My favorites are Invader Zim, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

6. Do you like any video games?
Yeah. The Elder Scrolls, Resident Evil, Pokémon, Silent Hill, Sonic the Hedgehog, Bloodborne, etc., etc..

7. Favorite literature? This could be a novel, a book series, a comic, etc.
I don't read as much as I used to when I was a kid, admittedly. I used to peel through books as a kid. I just don't dedicate as much time to sitting down and reading books as an adult, which you could argue is why I'm a big dumb stupid-head. You can argue that if you want.
I do want to get back into reading more, though. Especially Tolkien. I've been trying to get into Lord of the Rings for a while. I also like to read Cthulhu Mythos stuff from time to time.
I read a lot of comic strips as a kid, especially Garfield and Peanuts, which definitely shaped my sense of humor and desire to become some kind of cartoon making guy.
I also really liked Johnny the Homicidal Maniac as a teen, which I got into because I liked Zim and the Zim guy made it.

8. How has art affected your life?
Art takes me away from my stupid boring life. It comforts me and brings me joy. Not a lot of other things do, so I think I'm allowed that.

9. What are your hopes for the future of humanity?
Resolve climate change, plastic pollution, and rising ocean salinity before everything dies. I hope the American state collapses and sovereignty of the land is returned to its native peoples.
I can't think of a lot else I would want. I just don't want us to get wiped out.

10. Any hopes or aspirations for your own future?
I want to get to a point where I'm happy with my art. I'd like to become fluent in French, and maybe do martial arts at some point. And I hope I can fix my brain so I'm not so miserable all the time.
I also want to try and fix things with my family before I start losing people.

11. If sentient extraterrestrial life were to exist, what would you want to tell them about humanity?
Humans love deeply and see beauty in many things. We shouldn't be defined by the few of us that are selfish and evil.
We fight and we suffer, but we also laugh, dance, and sing. We have families, friends, and lovers. We want to live.

12. Do you currently have / have you had any pets or livestock?
I live with my parents' cats, Izzy and Ivan. We also used to have two cats named Dagget and Scooter, and two dogs, Zeb and Lightning.

13. How do you hope people remember you?
I know that I can be abrasive and unfriendly. In my life, I've been cruel and selfish. But I hope that when I die, people remembered that I wanted to be good.
I'm not the type of person that everyone will get along with. But I try to do the right thing. I regret the ways that I've hurt others, and I try every day to be something better. It might not ever be good enough, but I hope people at least remember that I tried.

14. Do you have any advice for younger people?
I cannot possibly overstate how important it is to have some kind of confidence in your identity. Don't let loneliness or an inferiority complex lead you to hanging out with people who suck. Don't worry about "proving yourself" or "fitting in". Worry about doing the right thing. People who are scared, lost and angry can become people who are hateful and violent.
If you can teach your kids one thing, teach them to respect themselves and others.

15. Are you religious?
I wasn't raised religious. I've always been someone who believes strictly in science. But if you could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that there was a higher power, I'd probably want to be in its favor.

16. What do you think the meaning of life is?
I don't think that any living things exist because they have a "purpose" they need to fulfill. I think living things have worth by virtue of existing.
I hope that in my life I can be happy. I want to die being able to say I had a good life. I don't think anything else really matters.

17. Do you have any fears?
Mass extinctions and being attacked by wild animals. Or never achieving my goals.

18. What makes you happy?
Drugs and art.

19. What kind of food do you like to eat?
Pasta and noodles.

20. Do you have a favorite animal?
Fuck. Dogs, cats, flies, wasps, horses, parrots, echinoderms, octopuses, crows... I like pretty much all animals. I don't know which one is my favorite.

21. Do you have a favorite color?
Red or hot pink. Or black.

22. What do you wish you had known earlier?
You can't make everyone happy. Maybe someone will think you look ugly in that outfit, but fuck 'em. Maybe people won't like if you speak your mind, but fuck 'em. Maybe people will think you're pretentious and annoying, but fuck 'em. You don't get to be alive for very long. Do what makes you happy while you have the chance.
