TS3: John & Gygs
June 21, 2025
Two Sims from one of my earliest TS3 save files.
Both of these Sims were created in basegame TS3 without any CC.
NAME: John Smith
SEX: Male
AGE: Adult
SUPERNATURAL: Human
TRAITS: Workaholic, Neat, Genius, Never Nude, Friendly
LIFETIME WISH: Chess Legend
John was just meant to be a "generic" Sim to help me get into the swing of the game, but I ended up getting attached to him and inventing little bits of lore for him. John has appeared in some form in most of my save files since.
He was in the business career track, obviously.
I ended up deciding that John is an smart but socially unaware guy who takes everyone at their word and assumes the best of everyone, even if it's against his better judgement.
I later gave him parents, Norman and Margaret, and a half-brother, Brett. As far as I remember, John never had any romantic interests.
John also housed the ghost of Tragic Clown at some point.
While I was digging through my files, I found a little "bio" I wrote for him back in 2022:
- John is friendly to a fault, and tends to give people the benefit of the doubt, even when they don't particularly deserve it.
- When Gygs crashed in his yard, John took pity on him and allowed him to stay at his house. Gygs refused to sleep in the house and instead decided to lair in John's previously unused shed.
- John isn't allowed in the shed. He does find it strange and a little concerning, but doesn't think much of it. He understands that Gygs values his space. As long as he's comfortable, it's probably fine.
- John isn't entirely sure what Gygs is doing when he leaves the house. Gygs refuses to tell him, and John tries to respect that.
- He doesn't get mad, just disappointed.
- Not into hookups.
- Is close with his brother Brett, who always makes time for him, even when he's already busy.
- Brett desperately tries to convince John not to let Gygs stay at his house. This sometimes makes John upset.
John also appeared as a butler in a "vampire" playthrough I did. In this same save, he also had an "evil clone".
NAME: Gygs Dgsgs
SEX: Male
AGE: Young Adult
SUPERNATURAL: Human (technically)
TRAITS: Evil, Kleptomaniac, Light Sleeper, Neurotic, Vehicle Enthusiast
LIFETIME WISH: The Emperor of Evil
I imagine it's pronounced "Giggis Digsiggis".
Gygs is a weird alien freak that I made after I started to get bored of playing John. While John was at work or asleep, I would have Gygs running around town, stealing property, dumpster diving, and starting fights with random Sims. Eventually, he joined the criminal career and ultimately became the Emperor of Evil (while still living in John's shed).
There's no alien Sims in the basegame, and you can't make aliens in CAS anyway, so technically speaking he's a human Sim. But the sentiment is there.
At first, I tried to avoid having John and Gygs ever interact, to give the impression that Gygs was living on John's shed without his knowledge. Eventually, though, I decided that Gygs had crashed his spaceship in John's backyard and John had allowed him to stay at his house.
Gygs also got his own bio:
- An intelligent alien lifeform hailing from a planet really, really far away.
- A heavily inebriated Gygs totalled his spacecraft in John's backyard one night. Fortunately, John offered him a place to stay.
- Figures he might as well conquer the planet while he's here. That's just what aliens do.
- Gygs built a secret hideout under John's shed. John isn't allowed inside, obviously.
- Despite his relative intelligence, Gygs is aggressive, immature, and conceited. He expects his human peers to cower before him, even though he really spends most of his time playing video games.
- Finds humans equal parts repulsive and fascinating. He particularly enjoys human movies.
- Gygs also has an appreciation for human vehicles.
- Because all humans are beneath him anyway, Gygs doesn't have an issue with stealing from them. He furnishes his "hideout" with things taken from other people's houses.
- Hates Brett for trying to blow his cover. Dislikes John for asking so many questions.
